Giving birth to titans arising from legacies of luminaries through Annual Events

Central to the vision and mission of the college is the cultivation of values and morals essential for humane legal professionals. Through its following 4 annual events, the institution commemorates the lives, struggles, achievements and contributions of luminaries associated with the HSNC Board. It is hoped that the coming decades will unveil new titans arising from their legacies to enrich the life of our society by following their gigantic footsteps :

Nari Gursahani Fest : This event stands as a testament to the enduring memory of a visionary, a stalwart whose values even today resonate through the corridors of justice and whose contributions will continue to shape the ethos of  our society, Sindhi community and our institution. Year after year, this event is celebrated through a dynamic blend of experiential learning activities such as client counseling,  moot court, elocution/debate and research competitions at State and national levels. These initiatives serve as a conduit for students to embody principles of selflessness and compassion, mirroring the essence of Nari Gursahani’s life’s work. The institution not only pays homage to his esteemed memory but also molds a cohort of future legal luminaries poised to uphold the highest ethical standards, echoing the timeless values championed by Nari Gursahani, a legal luminary, sindhu samrat, magnanimous philanthropist, committed educationist, undaunted freedom fighter and devoted spiritualist.

 

Padma Bhushan Dr. L.H. Hiranandani Memorial Event: The values of Padma Bhushan Dr. L.H. Hiranandani, the internationally renowned otorhinolaryngologist, social activist, philanthropist and educationist transcend time. Through this Memorial event, talks/seminars/workshops on contemporary and socially relevant issues that are beyond the syllabus, are organised. Some such topics have been ‘cadaver donation’, ‘gender neutrality in adultery laws’, ‘eradicating stigmas attached to mental health’, ‘digitisation of education: new opportunities and challenges during covid’, ‘role of education in changing times’, ‘compulsory licensing and access to medicine:vis-à-vis indian healthcare system’. These discussions not only make the students think beyond the box but they also make them honor the memory of Padma Bhushan Dr. L.H. Hiranandani; and cultivate a generation of leaders poised to make a positive impact on society, echoing the timeless principles embodied by Padma Bhushan Dr. L.H. Hiranandani.

 

Dr. Gopi Gursahani Event: Through a multifaceted approach encompassing moot court competitions, research writing endeavors, engaging panel discussions, and asian parliamentary debate competitions, students are immersed in the enduring legacy of Dr. Gursahani, a luminary whose values reverberate through the realms of academia and public discourse. These initiatives serve as a crucible for students to internalize principles of steadfastness, service to community, intellectual rigor, critical inquiry, effective communication, mannerism, poise and etiquette, echoing the essence of Dr. Gopi Gursahani’s life. By integrating her teachings into diverse learning opportunities, the institution not only pays homage to her esteemed memory but also cultivates a cohort of future leaders poised to effect positive change with integrity, empathy, and resilience, embodying the values championed by Dr. Gopi Gursahani.

 

Shakuntala Gursahani Memorial Cultural Event: The Shakuntala Gursahani Memorial Cultural Event provides a platform for celebration of creativity, diversity, and cultural heritage. Ms. Shakuntala Gursahani, with her passion and commitment to promoting cultural understanding, epitomized the values of inclusivity and tolerance. These are cherished by Nari Gursahani Law College. This event under the name and title of “Bubbles Gursahani Memorial event” (Ms Shakuntala was lovingly known as “Bubbles” amongst NGLC students) showcases a rich tapestry of artistic expressions, including music, dance, theater, and visual arts, providing students with a platform to showcase their talents and celebrate cultural diversity. Students are encouraged to explore the intersection of law and culture, thereby deepening their understanding of the complex issues facing society.

Our institution has demonstrated exemplary performance in fostering values through its annual events, each commemorating the contributions of distinguished individuals who have shaped the institution’s identity. Through the annual memorial events, the institution instills in its students the values of excellence, integrity, social responsibility, and cultural sensitivity. Thus, graduates of Nari Gursahani Law College emerge not only as competent legal professionals but also as compassionate and ethical leaders poised to make a positive impact on society.
